The kitchen - maintenance position is a part-time, seasonal job where the worker maintains the brand new Bodtker Lodge, plans a menu for overnight campers, runs the kitchen and manages the kitchen budget.

The lifeguard position is 4 afternoons per week during the summer with additional hours on the weekends and weeknights May through September. available based on bookings.

The Leader in Training program is designed develop leadership skills, communication skills, teamwork skills necessary to interact with children in a summer camp setting. Ideal for high school students between 14 years old and 16 years old.

Assistant animator *Compleat*

The assistant animators are responsible for providing a fun, safe and interactive environment for all campers while assisting animators and teachers in their activities. Ideal for people with no camp experience 16 years old and up.

Animator *Compleat*

The Animators are responsible for planning and organizing a fun, safe and interactive environment for all campers. They pilot educational lessons in collaboration with other staff and plan and pilot recreational activities for campers.

The head teacher’s focus is to plan, organize, run and deliver activities and lesson plans that are coherent with the educational program. Ideal for someone with a background in education, environmental science, chemistry or biology with camp experience. 

Kitchen - Maintenance
 

Job Summary : 

The kitchen and maintenance position is designed for someone who is versatile and enjoys working around kids. This position involves many tasks to assure the good functioning of the summer camps including cooking, cleaning, manual labour, etc.

Duties & Responsibilities : 

  • Creating a healthy menu for the overnight campers

  • Preparing dinner for overnight campers

  • Managing the kitchen budget

  • Assuring a clean and safe environment on site

Job Skills and qualifications:

Kitchen - Maintenace

Lifeguard

Job Summary : 

At Quebec Lodge, it is important to provide a fun and safe environment where kids can also enjoy some free play. Beach time, every afternoon, is the time where campers can enjoy the best beach on the lake and some free time with their friends. The lifeguard is responsible for waterfront safety and activities. It is their duty, in collaboration with teachers and counselors to assure a safe environment on the beach and in the water.

Duties & Responsibilities : 

  • Supervise swimming and boating activities

  • Assist in maintaining accurate records including incident reports, logbooks, in relation to beach time

  • Know and understand all emergency procedures associated with the beach safety.

  • Know, enforce, and follow all safety guidelines associated with the beach safety. This includes but is not limited to being responsible for the campers’ safety and their whereabouts at all times.

Job Skills and qualifications:

  • National Lifeguard Pool or waterfront Qualification

  •  Must be 17 years old or older

  •  Strong communication skills.

  •  Self-motivated with the ability to work both independently and as a constructive team member.

  •  Experience in camp, youth programs, or related field is an asset  

  •  Certified in CPR and First Aid

Leader in Training

The leader in training program is designed to prepare youth for a counselor position at a summer camp. The program is designed to develop leadership skills, communication skills, teamwork skills necessary to interact with children in a summer camp setting. The leader in training assists the counselors and the teachers in providing a safe, fun and interactive environment for the campers. They also assist in organizing and delivering outdoor environmental education lessons for the campers.

  • Assist the teachers and the counselors in organizing and delivering environmental education lessons.

  • Assist the counselors in planning, organizing and delivering activities for the campers.

  • Identify and respond to camper behaviour issues.

  • Help with various manual labor tasks such as burning brush, painting, cutting paths, cleaning, moving things etc.

  • Collaborate with the teachers, counselors and the lifeguard to provide a fun, interactive and safe environment for campers.

Leader in Training
 

Job Summary : 

The leader in training program is designed to prepare youth for a counselor position at a summer camp. The program is designed to develop leadership skills, communication skills, teamwork skills necessary to interact with children in a summer camp setting. The leader in training assists the counselors and the teachers in providing a safe, fun and interactive environment for the campers. They also assist in organizing and delivering outdoor environmental education lessons for the campers. To apply for this position you must be at least 14 years old before the start of the summer

Lifeguard

Assistant Animator
 

Job Summary : 

Quebec Lodge Outdoor Centre offers both Day camp and Residential Camp for kids and teens ages 7 to 15 years old. The counselor plans, organizes, runs and delivers outdoor activities and wide games. The assistant animators4 sleeps at the camp during the 4 weeks of Residential Camp and assists in providing a fun, safe and interactive environment for all campers in collaboration with, the animators, teachers and Leaders in Training (LITs). Assistant animators are fun, dynamic and enthusiastic leader and team player that is comfortable with kids and teens.

  • Assist the teachers and animators in organizing and delivering environmental education lessons.

  • Delivers activities for the campers during the evening in collaboration with other counselors.

  • Identify and respond to camper behaviour issues

  • Help with various manual labor tasks such as burning brush, painting, cutting paths, cleaning, moving things etc.

  • Collaborate with the teachers, counselors, the lifeguard and LITs to provide a fun, interactive and safe environment for campers.

Junior Counselor

Teacher

Job Summary : 

Quebec Lodge is an outdoor centre that focuses on educational day camp and residential camp. The main focuses of the educational program are environmental literacy and healthy living skills. The teacher’s focus is to plan, organize, run and deliver activities and lesson plans that are coherent with the educational program. The teacher is a fun, enthusiastic dynamic leader and team player that is comfortable with kids and teens. The teacher is also a role model when it comes to outdoor education, environmental literacy and healthy living skills.

Duties & Responsibilities : 

  • Plan and organize a variety of outdoor environmental education lessons and activities for campers aged 7 to 15 years old

  • Run and deliver a variety of outdoor lessons and activities in collaboration with the teachers, counselors and Leaders in training (LITs)

  • Collaborate with the teachers, counselors, the lifeguard and LITs to provide a fun, interactive and safe environment for campers.

  • Identify and respond to camper behavior issues.

  • Communicate with parents about campers’ experiences and report concerns to the Head Teacher.

  • Help with various manual labor tasks such as burning brush, painting, cutting paths, cleaning, moving things etc.

  • Participate in publicity or charity events organized by the outdoor centre. (For example, participate in the alumni weekend activities)

  • Guide and assist the counselors and the LITs when interacting with and teaching the campers.

Job Skills and qualifications:

  • Background in Education, Biology, Chemistry or Environmental Sciences is a must.

  • Bilingual, French and English is an asset

  • First aid training is an asset

Animator 
 

Job Summary :

Salary: 

May 1st to August 28th, 2019. Average of 35 hours per week. Weekdays (some exceptions may apply for special events)

Teacher

Head Teacher 
 

Job Summary : 

Quebec Lodge is an outdoor centre that focuses on educational day camp and residential camp. The main focuses of the educational program are environmental literacy and healthy living skills. The head teacher sleeps at the camp during the 4 weeks of overnight camp. The head teacher is a fun, enthusiastic dynamic leader and team player that is comfortable with kids and teens. The head teacher is also a role model when it comes to outdoor education, environmental literacy and healthy living skills. The Head Teacher reports directly to the Camp Director.

Duties & Responsibilities : 

  • Plan and organize a variety of outdoor environmental education lessons and activities for campers aged 7 to 15 years old based on the QL educational curriculum

  • Run and deliver a variety of outdoor lessons and activities in collaboration with the teachers, counselors and Leaders in training (LITs)

  • Collaborate with other staff  to assure a high quality of educational lessons and activities based on the QL educational curriculum.

  • Collaborate with the other staff, the lifeguard and LITs to provide a fun, interactive and safe environment for campers.

  • Identify and respond to camper behavior issues.

  • Communicate with parents about campers’ experiences and report concerns to the Head Teacher.

  • Help with various manual labour tasks such as burning brush, painting, cutting paths, cleaning, moving things etc.
